The Building Safety Act was introduced to improve on building safety standards following the Grenfell Tower tragedy and places greater responsibility on businesses, requiring them to prove competency, risk management, and adherence to safety protocols.
One key way to showcase compliance is through Constructionline Gold accreditation, where Building Safety Act-specific question sets now come included as part of the Gold and Platinum membership levels. These question sets align with the requirements of the BS 8670-1:2024 standard, which sets out core building safety competence criteria. It is applicable to all building types and scales and must be included in sector-specific frameworks.
At this time, as the industry adapts, completion of the Building Safety Act question sets is advisory and does not impact the ability to achieve accreditation; however, this will become a mandatory requirement for achieving the Common Assessment Standard later this year.
